Biography of Amalia Madihie PhD
Amalia Madihie is a senior lecturer from Department of Counselling at the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Malaysia.She has over a decade of experience teaching counselling and cognitive psychology courses at tertiary level.Amalia’s interest in working with people since graduated from her first degree in Cognitive Science with Honors. She completed her master degree in Master of Science in Professional Counselling at Lee University, Tennessee, USA in 2004. Then, in 2007, she obtained her Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. Amalia, then, obtained her PhD in Guidance and Counselling at Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2015.

In 2004, Amalia obtained her counselling license and certificate of practitioner from the Malaysian Counsellor Board.Her interest in working with disadvantaged children and family clinically becomes greater.She also discovered the importance of resilience in individuals from the counselling practices and continued in her PhD works. Her research interest are diverse including Resilient Therapy Intervention, counselling module/intervention development, group and individual counselling, counsellor education and supervision, professional development training, mental health literacy, and other counseling and psychology applied.Amalia publishes many articles for various journals, several book chapters, and some entries in magazines and research bulletins.Her passion in developing networks in counselling field leads her to explore opportunities for the sake of humankind.Amalia is very active with volunteerism programmes such as corporate social programmes and give her full commitment to counselling association activities which involve counselors and students with other professionals.
Amalia is also an Executive Member for Persatuan Kaunseling Malaysia Antarabangsa (PERKAMA International) and just recently in July, 2016, Amalia has been elected to be an Executive Council for International Association for Counselling (IAC) - Asia Regional which based in Europe. One of the highest achievements in her career in 2016 is she is one of the three finalists for Outstanding Achievement Anak Sarawak Award, organized by the Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB), Sarawak State.
