Originally from country WA (Esperance, Manjimup), I started out life as a Maths teacher at Alice Springs High School. I only every intended staying for a year. After mortgage, marriage, three kids and 30 years, I have re-located to Adelaide to work with AAMT on the exciting reSolve Project.
My wife Vicki has continued her passion of teaching Pre-School and Art at Alice Springs School of the Air.
All three kids are at Uni in Adelaide, working towards being a Chemical Engineer, a Social Scientist and an Early Childhood Teacher.
Most of my teaching has been in the Year 7-10 range and most recently with Year 11-12. I have enjoyed several curriculum roles with a Maths and ICT focus for NT Department of Education & Training. I have also worked as a consultant for schools in Australia, with a strong interest in supporting remote and country schools, using Maths300 as the basis for the professional learning.
Resources that might be useful for classroom teachers are uploaded to my Maths? No Fear! wiki at: http://maths-no-fear.wikispaces.com. Most of my Twitter activity is around mathematical ideas via @matt_skoss, using the #lessonstarter hashtag.
Absolutely central to the reSolve Project and engaging teachers and schools have been the Outreach Officers in each State and Territory. I am indebted to:
