Mohd Ridzuan Ahmad

About Me

I was born in Kuala Lumpur on December 31, 1976. I obtained my Dr. Eng. (Micro-nano Systems Engineering) from Nagoya University, Japan in March 2010. I was a research officer in Department of Robotics and Mechatronics, UTM, from June to November 2002. In 2003, I joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering as a lecturer. I was promoted as a senior lecturer in 2011. Since 2011, I am a Principal Researcher at the Institute of Ibnu Sina, UTM and from 2014 as an Associate Researcher at Advanced Photonics Science Institute in UTM. I was promoted to an Associate Professor in June, 2017. In teaching, I have taught at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for duration of ten years. I teach core and elective subjects that are related to the electrical engineering at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Some of the subjects that I have taught are Robot Technology for Automation, Microprocessor, Microcontroller, Control: Modeling and Simulation, Instrumentation and Electrical Measurement, Signals & System and Electronics Instrumentation and Measurement. Subjects that I taught at the postgraduate level are Autonomous Mobile Robotics, Design of Microprocessor based Mechatronic System and Advanced Microprocessor System. In administration, I have worked on several posts; Committee for Postgraduate Studies at the faculty, Head of the Mobile Robotics Lab, Head of Micro-Nano Mechatronics Lab, Coordinator for Final Year Project, Committee for Harvard Business School Case Studies. In research, my research works have been funded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia through various research grants (FRGS, ERGS, PRGS and GUP). I was also awarded a grant from HORI Foundation Fellowship to perform research in single cell analysis at Nagoya University. I have publications in ISI journals, SCOPUS journals, book chapters and international magazines. My research works have been published in IEEE Transactions such as IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology, IEEE Transactions on Nanobioscience, etc. My research interests include multi-agent robotics system, micro/nano manipulation, nanobiology, nanodevices and single cell analysis. I am a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a member of IEEE Nanotechnology Society, a member of American Nano Society, a member of Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), a member of Malaysia Society of Engineering and Technology (mSET), a life member of Golden Key International Honor Society, a professional engineer (P.Eng.) of Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), a charted engineer (C.Eng.) of UK engineering council (IET) and a corporate member of Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM).
