Hi! I am Dr. Nurul Asyikin Yahya, a Senior Lecturer in the Dental Public Health Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). I graduated from Barts and The London, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) with MSc in Dental Public Health with distinction in 2003 and received the Diploma of Dental Public Health Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2004.
Actively involved in teaching and learning module for undergraduate and postgraduate as well as clinical preventive consultation for UKM quit smoking specialist clinic. My research interest is on “Tobacco Cessation in Dentistry”, and has done various research and publications on the area. I am currently doing a PhD in University of Malaya and collaborates with the Ministry of Health in conducting my PhD research in smoking cessation.
I was one of the main speakers in the 2nd UKM Periodontology Symposium held in Kuala Lumpur 2007, The Asian Oral Health Care Scientific Meeting in Jakarta 2008 and The 12th Congress of ASEAN Federation for Psychiatry & Mental Health & 15th Malaysian Conference on Psychological Medicine 2010. I am a member of the University of Malaya Centre of Addiction Sciences (UMCAS). Currently am the Associate Editor for International Journal of Addiction Sciences (E-JAS).
